So the Republicans have a small majority in the House and we have some members who have decided to use that to a personal advantage by threatening not to vote for Republican sponsored bills. We know the Democrats will vote against Republican sponsored bills because of the political divisiveness Congress has achieved in the past two decades. Better to rule in Hell than serve in Heaven seems to be the mantra of the Democrats. Better to have a Hell of a country that we rule than to have a better place with Republicans in charge.
By opposing the President’s agenda in the House for personal gain, rebellious Republican members have moved across the aisle and become part and parcel of the opposition to smaller government, closed borders and common sense directives like a meritocracy based society versus an imaginary utopia where everyone receives the same handouts from the government.
When you have the chance to lead, then Lead! This isn’t the time for grandstanding and drawing attention to yourselves by opposing the wishes of the President. Remember you count your votes in the thousands and he counts his in the tens of millions. Do what is best for the country and not for yourself. This is the opportunity your party said it wanted. If you screw it up I doubt you’ll get a second chance.
Personalities need to be set aside. If you need to be on television then leave Congress and get a job on Fox or MSNBC or Newsnation. They are all hiring ex-members. You’ll get a better salary and lots on on air time to give your opinion on just about everything. Remember if you’re not leading or following you’re in the way and the public wants you to either support the President or leave.
I point out that as an independent who voted for Trump because of his policies, I don’t think members of his own party should be sabotaging his agenda. If you are, may you live in interesting times (an old Chinese curse) and may those times include finding the bees in your endeavors but not the honey (an old Irish curse.) You should remember that in making the government smaller your constituency may include some targeted entities and it just might be that because of your lack of support those entities may close and that such closures may be placed at the door of your re-election campaign office (that’s an old political curse incurred from not following the leader.)
Now is your time, don’t screw it up.
